The Duke is a warm, welcoming & friendly pub situated on the beach front in Newgale, which is located in the Pembrokeshire coast national park. A well-known favourite destination due to the large beach, stunning walks and fantastic scenery. The beach itself brings surfers from all over to ride the waves,  locals and tourists a like to marvel at the views.

History of The Duke

The Duke of Edinburgh is situated on the coast path, the pub itself was originally on the beach until the great storm of 1859 where the pub was washed away and although not proven, was when the pebble wall was said to be naturally created. The pub was then re built behind the pebbles and was known by a couple of names before being renamed the Duke of Edinburgh.

Great breakfast. We were camping at the campsite at Newgale and came here for breakfast. The food was excellent and great veggie options. The Glamorgan sausages are so tasty! The portions were large and overall the breakfast was really good value. The place was clean and the decor inside is much nicer than we expected from the outside.

Quick food. When on arrival we was shown to a table immediately once we had filled out the COVID19 track and trace form. Food was ordered quickly and friendly, and it arrived at the table with a smiling waitress. The food was absolutely spot on. Amazing portion too. See you all next time.

We were properly soaked and cold, a very welcoming pub and the fire, food and beer may have saved us!

We came here years ago and it was good . As we were passing we decided to drop in for lunch again. We ordered 2 scampi and a veggie lasagne . Well all three meals come out to us. What a lovely feast. Beautifully cooked, presented and very tasty. It was a lovely experience. A warm friendly location and very inviting. Many thanks.
